Also the present invention is concerned with a knitted fabric for the tread pattern.
As a tire for passenger car vehicles, for example, there is known a tire provided with a circumferential directional groove (groove) formed between shoulder portions (base rib portions) of a lug disposed in bead portions at equidistance from the central line of the tire in the axial direction (for example, Patent Document 1: JP H11-82921 A).
In a conventional pneumatic tire of the above kind, although it gives high resistance to cut-off by the groove, the tire may be cut off or damaged because a wide cut-off groove is formed with less weight, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. In the drawings, the reference character A denotes a center plane of a tread pattern, the reference character B denotes the groove of the tread pattern, the reference character C denotes the bottom of the groove, the reference character D denotes the groove bottom surface, and the reference character G denotes the cut-off groove.
In this case, in a tire, for example, when the tire contacts with an ice, the groove B serves to divide the ice from the lug which contacts with the groove B and also enables the ice to slip downwardly on the groove B. On the other hand, the part of the ice which contacts with the groove B slips on the groove B at a high coefficient of friction. At this time, it is required to ensure an increase of the coefficient of friction of the groove B for a reduction of the sliding resistance on the ice.
However, in such conventional pneumatic tire as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, even when the groove B is widened, the coefficient of friction of the groove B for the ice is almost equivalent to that of other tread pattern of the conventional pneumatic tire.
