The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LOSO) is the principal law enforcement agency in Lincoln County, Oregon. Established in 1888 in the current county seat of Dallas, the agency is led by the county’s only elected sheriff, Greg Sherwood, and a command staff of 12 deputies.

According to the agency’s 2016 annual report, the sheriff’s office received approximately 2,072 calls for service, served 1,823 warrants, made 621 felony arrests, and assisted with approximately 706 motor vehicle accidents. Of those arrests, 68.5% resulted in the suspect being charged with a criminal offense, with 2.4% being charged with Class C (fail to wear a seatbelt) and 3.6% being charged with Class D (driving under the influence or DUI) offenses. Additionally, 7.6% of the arrests involved persons subject to a Protection Order and 4.8% of arrests involved persons subject to a restraining order (with 6% of these restraining orders being for domestic violence).

As of September 1, 2018, the sheriff had sworn off alcohol for the month preceding his 80th birthday in honor of the passing of his father, and also issued a proclamation, which prohibits possessing or using alcohol within the county of his own property, or property in which he himself has an interest.
